‘This is the day that the LORD has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.’
Psalms 118:24
One of my favorite parts of the weekend is the morning of Day 3 when we wake up at the crack of dawn and wake the participants with song…”This is the day”. To me that whole part of the weekend is about waking up and realizing the day belongs to God—it is HIS and He made it for us to use and glorify him. I think that is what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ, to wake up in the morning and say, “Lord thank you for this day. I am going to live it out for You.” I pray that as we approach the weekend, we may set our eyes on Christ each and every morning. I pray we wake rejoicing in the day God has made for us.

The chaos that proceeds Christmas is just that—chaos. Buying and wrapping gifts, cooking dinner, decorating every nook and cranny of the house. It is true that we forget the reason for the season. The reason we celebrate is because this is the day the Savior was born.
Think about that.
Christmas is the day the Word became flesh and dwelt among us in the meekest of places. He came for us. He came to save us.
But where does that leave us on December 26th? When the presents have been unwrapped and the songs have been overplayed and the leftovers are piling up in the fridge. Where are we?
We are living in a world renewed with the Spirit of God. We are in a world filled with the joy for we have been reminded that our Savior came. We are living with the love and light of Christ born anew in each one of us.
Christ the light has come into the world of darkness. As the people of darkness who have a seen a great light, let us live as children of the light. Let us be empowered by the love of God, filled with the Holy Spirit, and awakened by the miracle that is the birth of Jesus Christ to lead lives that glorify Him.

“Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.”
